Message from President 2017 National
Happy New Year to you and your family,
The beginning of this New Year brings the dawn of a new chapter in the Association of Surgeons of India. The association is getting back to the normal after year long rough period in 2016. We had a wonderful annual conference ASICON at Mysuru with unprecedented Annual General Body meeting largely due to your determination, resolve of the organizing committee of ASICON led by Dr. G. Siddesh and the historical Chennai High Court order which not only protected ASICON and GC and GB meetings but also thoroughly exposed ulterior motives of then President.
In the year 2017, my whole team of office bearers and all the EC members are committed to erasing all the bad memories of previous year. The executive committee has resolved to bring back Academics, Transparency, Democracy and Accountability in ASI as it ought to be.
Let us welcome this New Year with big smile.
Wish you Happy New Year!!
We are going to restart the Social Security Scheme and plan to have 6 zonal CMEs across the country with added attractions for Post graduates and young surgeons. Peripheral skill centers are being identified for the benefit of our members and advanced skill center at the headquarters at Chennai assumes our priority.
Committees have been formed to look in to areas of Chapter Co-Ordination, Sectional Co-Ordination, Safe Surgery, Ethical Surgical Practice, Surgical Guidelines, Surgical Education and Surgical Research, Skill Development, Arbitration, Grievance Redressaal, Legal Cell, Building, Government-ASI coordination, Social Services & Public Awareness, Election Tribunal and constitutional amendments. E-newsletter will be made available to all the members to keep them updated about the various activities of the association. The ASI website and the office at Chennai are being modernized and restructured to make them member-friendly and efficient.
I invite suggestions from you to make our association vibrant and noteworthy. Without creating much hype, I commit my hundred percent to the cause of serving the association and seeking your cooperation just as always to rebuilding an ASI which is stronger, stellar and litigation free.
Yours truly
Dr. Shiva K. Misra

Message from Past President National
Dear Fellow members of the Andhra Pradesh Chapter of ASI,
I am extremely happy to see the real birth of yet another Chapter in The Association of Surgeons of India. Though the present A.P Chapter was sanctioned a year ago, the real separation has taken place this year as the chapter was keen on shouldering the responsibility of hosting ASICON 2014 at Hyderabad as the event was allotted to the united A.P chapter of the past. I must congratulate everyone in A.P chapter for this act and places on record the highest appreciation for the whole hearted support rendered during the conference to make it a grand success.
Though the chapter as such is new and is in its infancy, the members are old and experienced in the academic and organizational activities of ASI. I hope the rich experience of the senior members will guide the chapter and the vibrant younger blood will take the Chapter to new horizons rich in academic activities, good in social events and committed in bringing about bondage amidst its members and with society. The path is long and strenuous but I am sure it will be achieved in no time with unstinted effort from each one of you to this goal.
Building up an infant chapter is a task and it needs a proper mentoring in setting up goals, constitutional framework, accounting protocols etc. I offer all help from the central team of officers in ASI towards building this chapter.
All the very best to all of you
Dr Santhosh John Abraham
President ASI
